Accenture is the largest IT service company in the world by revenue. It reported revenue of $74.2 billion for the fiscal year ended 31 August 2026, with about 814,000 people. IBM has similar total revenue but most of it comes from software and hardware. Among pure IT services firms, Tata Consultancy Services is second, at just over $30 billion.
Key takeaways
- By revenue, Accenture leads with $74.2 billion (fiscal 2026) and is more than twice the size of TCS.
- TCS is the largest India-based IT services company, with over $30 billion in revenue and 584,519 employees in its year to March 2026.
- IBM's total revenue was $67.5 billion in 2025, but consulting is only one of its segments, so it is not a like-for-like comparison.
- Rankings change with the measure you choose: revenue, headcount and market value give different orders.
- Size alone says little about fit. Mid-sized buyers often get more senior attention from specialist providers.
The largest IT services companies by revenue
The table below uses each company's own latest full-year results. Fiscal years end in different months, and three report in currencies other than US dollars, so treat close positions as approximate.
| Company | Headquarters | Latest full-year revenue | Fiscal year | People |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Accenture | Dublin, Ireland | $74.2 billion | Year to 31 Aug 2026 | About 814,000 |

| Tata Consultancy Services | Mumbai, India | Over $30 billion | Year to 31 Mar 2026 | 584,519 |
| Capgemini | Paris, France | €22.5 billion | Calendar 2025 | 423,400 |
| Cognizant | Teaneck, USA | $21.1 billion | Calendar 2025 | Over 350,000 |

Two large groups are left out of the table on purpose. Deloitte and the other Big Four firms report revenue that includes audit, tax and advisory work, so their technology services share is not separately comparable. Japan's NTT DATA is also one of the biggest IT services providers worldwide, but it reports in yen on a different basis.
Why Accenture ranks first
Accenture is the largest IT services company on revenue because it combines consulting, technology implementation and long-term managed services at very large scale. Its fiscal 2026 revenue grew 6% in US dollars, and it booked $84.5 billion of new work in the year.
Its scale comes from breadth. It works across almost every industry and region, runs large outsourcing contracts and has grown through a steady stream of acquisitions. That breadth is also why it appears on most large-enterprise shortlists for multi-year transformation programmes.
Is IBM bigger than Accenture?
Not in IT services. IBM's total 2025 revenue of $67.5 billion is close to Accenture's, but it is split across software, infrastructure (hardware such as mainframes) and consulting. In 2025 IBM's consulting revenue grew 2%, while software grew 11% and infrastructure 12%. On services alone, IBM is well behind Accenture.
The largest Indian IT services companies
India is home to three of the seven companies in the table. TCS is the biggest, followed by Infosys and HCLTech. All three run global delivery models, with large engineering centres in India serving clients in North America, Europe and the rest of Asia.
- TCS: revenue of ₹267,021 crore in FY26, which TCS states as over $30 billion; 584,519 employees.
- Infosys: $20,158 million in FY26 revenue, up 3.1% in constant currency.
- HCLTech: $14.7 billion in FY26 revenue, up 3.9% in constant currency.
Revenue, headcount or market value: which measure matters?
Each measure answers a different question. Pick the one that matches why you are asking.
| Measure | What it tells you | Limitations |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue | How much work clients actually buy | Different fiscal years and currencies; some firms mix products and services |
| Headcount | Delivery capacity and global reach | Offshore-heavy firms have more staff per dollar of revenue |
| Market capitalisation | What investors expect about future profits | Changes daily; private firms such as Deloitte have none |
| Profit margin | Pricing power and efficiency | Not a measure of size |
Older lists, including earlier versions of this article, ranked firms by market value at a single date. Those figures go out of date quickly, which is why this page uses reported annual revenue.
Does the biggest provider make the best partner?
For a global enterprise running a multi-country programme, scale matters: these firms can staff hundreds of people across time zones. For a mid-sized company, the trade-offs look different.
- Attention: a contract that is large for you may be small for a global firm. Ask who your day-to-day team will be.
- Seniority: specialist providers often put senior engineers directly on the account.
- Flexibility: smaller firms usually accept shorter contracts and narrower scopes.
- Breadth: large firms cover more technologies and regions under one contract.
